BP-Azerbaijan reduces offshore oil production
07 August 2008 - Today.Az - BP-Azerbaijan has cut production of oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, said spokesman for the company Tamam Bayatli, according to Interfax-Azerbaijan. "Yesterday we reduced oil production from our offshore fields for security purposes", said Bayatli. She noted that the company has already initiated oil export from the fields by alternative routes. "We are studying free capacities at the Sangachal terminal near Baku and possible rise in the volume of export by alternative routes. Oil accumulation for export started yesterday at Supsa terminal in Georgia following Baku-Supsa pipeline filling. We have also initiated oil export by Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline and by Baku-Batumi railroad", said Bayatli. The spokesman for the company noted that tankers shipment from the Turkish Ceyhan port is going on, as the terminal still has oil. According to her, Turkish Botas company continues work for fixing failure on the BTC pipeline.
